One of a series of Roman sites on Dere Street on its route through County Durham. These sites are linked by the Dere Street Trail. Piercebridge Roman Fort features interpreted remains of a fort site known as Morbium, which dates back to around AD270. Some of the finds from this historic site are on display at the nearby Bowes Museum.

Leave Darlington town centre on the A67 (Barnard Castle Road), following sings for Piercebridge Village. Take a left turn on to the B6275 into Piercebridge Village, the entrance to the fort site is on your left, opposite the Village Green.
